Sports, Strudel, Steins!

We understand that St. Louis residents love their sports. We cater to our sports fans with (23) 42" flat screen televisions, and one main projection screen. While watching your favorite sporting events, we will provide you with a menu of comfort pub food favorites, along with staple German menu items such as potato pancakes and strudel. The Rhine Haus also has a large selection of beers and sprits with daily drink specials. Following the German tradition, we will specialize in 1/2 liter and 1 liter oversized mugs of beer. Finally, The Rhine Haus will continuously strive to provide an entertaining atmosphere, by providing several traditional bar games, darts and shuffle board tables.

Chef Matthew Galati

Chef at Rhine Haus

Chef Matt Galati, the new chef at the Rhine Haus, has been in a kitchen his whole life. When he was little, he used to help his mom make all the Christmas cookies and cook the meals. By the time he was 12, he was making dinner for his family. He started an apprenticeship at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel when he was 15, worked in two different restaurants, and took cooking courses --all before the end of high school.

After high school, he enrolled in Le Cordon Bleu at Brown College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This was the first location established in America. He graduated, and during his course, helped with a variety of functions and catering events. His internship was held at the Glen Echo Country Club, the first and only golf course to be involved in the World Olympics and part of the St. Louis 1904 World's Fair. He helped open and run several restaurants and has catered some of the biggest events in the St. Louis area including the ASAE National Conference, the VP Fair backstage, and Powell Symphony Hall. He has catered in some of the most upscale locations including: Big V's Burger Joint, Niche, Viviano's Festa Italiano, Onesto, The Mad Tomato, Sauce on the Side, and The Busch Mansion.

Now, at 27, he has brought his culinary expertise to the Rhine Haus, a hip new German pub and eatery. His focus is fresh, made from scratch, high quality bar food. He uses fresh and local products to create exceptional entrees, appetizers, and sandwiches that are based on traditional German fare.
